It is helpful to experiment withmaterials, massing and variety of movable maquettes that allow the development of the design process.

Here you can see how the assembly of 1 residential block is derived from 1 frame of structure.
The sequence of construction will involve prefabricated parts including the facade.
The walls inbetween each unit in each block is seperated with non load bearing walls that consist of cellulose insulation. A traditional form of material used to reduce heat loss and noise transmission. In apartments accomodating young and mature students, according to my primary research within the area, there will be need of peace and quiet for the benfit of their studies.
Housing

The use of wood for physical experimentation allowed me to determine the materiality of walls on the exterior as well as the interior.
The use of timber panels gives a sense of character to the individuality of the houses in the sense that they inhabit their own space sitting in the context, even though they are modularised across the site.
The use of red bricks will allow the neighbourhood of Hulme to connect more easily. As this project's aim is to bind the community together and connect the isolations through space and material.
